Judge Ginsburg worked at Legal Assistance Corporation of Central Massachusetts for over five years before the program joined with Western Massachusetts Legal Services to form Community Legal Aid in 2011. He came to CLA after more than 25 years as a Probate & Family Court judge in Middlesex County, and 18 years of experience as a sole practitioner and an attorney at the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office. Judge Ginsburg led the Big Dig Cost Recovery Team and has been reappointed by the Supreme Judicial Court to a four-year term on the Mental Health Legal Advisors Committee. In 2002, he created Senior Partners for Justice in order to recruit attorneys and retired judges to provide free legal services to low-income individuals in family law matters. He also established a scholarship fund to expand access to Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. programs to private counsel who provide pro bono representation to low-income clients.
In 2005, the Supreme Judicial Court Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services awarded Judge Ginsburg the Adams Pro Bono Publico Award in recognition of his outstanding commitment to providing volunteer legal services for low-income and other disadvantaged communities. In 2004, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly named him Lawyer of the Year, and in 2005, the Boston Sunday Globe named him Bostonian of the Year. Judge Ginsburg has taught as an adjunct professor at Suffolk University and Boston College law schools.
